Today is an era of Artificial intelligence(AI), Machine learning, Robotic Process Automation.  AI is changing our lives in a multitude of different ways. AI is changing the way you work in your daily life. Far from being a vision of the future, AI is already making life a little bit easier in the office and at homes. HR, recruitment industry is no exception! AI in recruitment shaping up to improve talent acquisition effectiveness and efficiency.

Let’s take a brief note on how AI in recruitment shaped up in last few years.

AI In Recruitment .. So Far ..

In 2015-16, AI in recruitment was more of a buzzword. There were many queries, speculations about AI’s role in recruitment.

Today, AI is playing important role at sourcing, screening stages. As per 2017 Deloitte report, 33% of survey respondents already use some form of AI in the hiring process to save time and reduce human bias.

AI for resume screening is already making its mark in the recruitment process. Manual screening of resumes consumes 70% of recruiter’s time where as AI resume screening does it in matter of few seconds. It also eliminates the unconscious bias in recruitment.

There are many products that are using AI for recruitment. These are focused on solving various recruitment related problems. Few are focused on sourcing where as some are focused on screening. However, many organizations have their existing HRMS, ATS or CRM to take care of recruitment process. But, the good news is that, all these new AI powered recruitment products are designed for integrations. These products can integrate with existing HRMS or ATS to give optimization one desires.

Many organizations have already started working on implementing AI in recruitment process. 40% of the companies participated in Deloitte survey believed AI is the future of work.

Companies are also investing into AI technologies to improve employee engagement.

As AI in recruitment takes over basics, time consuming tasks such as sourcing, resume screening, therefore role of a recruiter will shift.

Candidate engagement is going to be next area of focus. Work has already started in that direction. Hence technology like cognitive AI will play crucial role in candidate engagement. Processes like candidate on-boarding, learning and management will become more engaging.

AI in recruitment seems to be taking the world of HR and recruitment by a storm. Today we are seeing countless different articles and blog posts covering use of AI in HR processes. Use of AI in HR and recruiting can be seen as next exciting thing in HR technology that would surely challenge the traditional approach.
